Speaker Bios



Anil Sood, M.D.

Dr. Anil Sood is an Assistant Professor of Gynecologic Oncology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa. He received his M.D. degree from the University of North Carolina followed by a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Florida, and a 3-year fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Iowa. After being appointed as an Assistant Professor in 1998, he was awarded a career research award through the Reproductive Scientist Development Program with funding support from the National Institutes of Health and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. His current research work involves characterization of tumor perfusion, including angiogenesis and alternative mechanisms such as vasculogenic mimicry, in ovarian cancers. Other research interests include development of preclinical models for in vitro evaluation of stress-related mediators with regard to behavior of cancer cells.
