Physical Activity Level (PAL)

Measure Definition:

PAL is defined as Total daily energy expenditure(TEE)/Resting energy expenditure(REE). The questionnaire provides a self-evaluation of physical activity during work and leisure activities.  

With measures or calculated values of REE, an estimate of TEE can be made from PAL
TEE = Physical activity leve(PAL) x REE

Any form of exercise or movement. Physical activity may include planned activity such as walking, running, basketball, or other sports. Physical activity may also include other daily activities such as household chores, yard work, walking the dog, etc. (NCI)
