Perspectives on the Intersection between Health Communication and Implementation Science
Date: Thursday, May 27, 2021
Time: 1:00-2:30 PM ET
Category: Field Perspectives
Dissemination and implementation research draws on many different disciplines, including behavioral economics, quality improvement science, organizational management, and social psychology. Insights and best practices from communication science, however, have thus far not been well integrated into dissemination and implementation (D&I) work. Communication is essential at many stages in the process of translating research into real world practice, suggesting that application of principles and practices from health communication may complement and enhance D&I efforts. This webinar will highlight the work and insights of cancer prevention and control scholars who have conducted health communication interventions in clinical and community settings with the goal of reducing health disparities and advancing health equity.
Speakers will discuss how communication science can strengthen implementation science efforts and reflect on opportunities to increase collaboration and integration between the two disciplines.
