The NCI Office of Cancer Survivorship (OCS) was created in 1996 to promote a better understanding of the unique needs of the growing population of cancer survivors and to enhance our ability to address those needs. OCS is housed within the NCI Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) and serves an important role in leading cancer survivorship research, not only within DCCPS and the research community, but also with other parts of NCI, other institutes at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and agencies outside NIH. In addition to the NCI cancer survivorship leaders listed below, numerous experts who focus on various aspects of cancer survivorship research are embedded throughout the institute and the NIH.
