Jalyn Walker, MPH, is a Cancer Research Training Award (CRTA) fellow working in the Office of Cancer Survivorship (OCS), part of the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS). In her role, Jalyn is responsible for supervising, developing, and promoting the cancer survivorship stories section of the OCS website. She also has a secondary appointment in the Surveillance Research Program (SRP), where she works to produce health communication messages for the public at large.

Jalyn has a strong interest in increasing health literacy in minority populations, introducing holistic health practices to young adults, and improving health communication methods and materials.

Prior to arriving at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Jalyn attained both her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and her Masters in Public Health at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. During her time at the University of Michigan, Jalyn worked as a wellness coach for women, creating holistic lifestyle changes through behavioral models. Jalyn also worked for the Michigan Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (MADRC), where she developed a monthly speaker series to inform others about dementia and prevention methods.
