OCS Director’s Series
In this NCI Office of Cancer Survivorship (OCS) Director’s Series webinar on November 7, 2023, Dr. Karina L. Walters of the NIH Tribal Health Research Office presented Beyond Survivance: Thrivance Among American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) Cancer Survivors. Dr. Walters highlighted the cancer burden in the AI/AN population and discussed the challenges of screening, diagnosis, and treatment in the AI/AN population in the context of historical trauma and indigenous traditions and beliefs.
The intended audience is researchers, advocates, clinicians, and policy makers with an interest in the health of tribal communities, oncology, or cancer survivorship.
