Crystal Reed, MHA, is a Health Scientist Administrator in the Basic Biobehavioral and Psychological Sciences Branch (BBPSB), Behavioral Research Program, Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS), NCI. In this role, Ms. Reed serves as the scientific support lead, responsible for the planning and execution of activities and program management in BBPSB. She is instrumental in the management of several cross-division scientific initiatives and works closely with leadership to provide oversight for strategic activities related to basic biobehavioral research and cancer survivorship. Specifically, she co-chairs the NIH-wide Primary Care Scientific Interest Group, as well as leading operations for the Survivorship Steering Committee, and other scientific working groups within NCI. Additionally, she serves as the Survivorship Coordinator for DCCPS’ Office of Cancer Survivorship (OCS).
Ms. Reed was responsible for the planning and execution of the Enhancing Capacity for Primary Care Research in Cancer Survivorship Workshop, which led to the development of a community of research practice focused on advancing the science for primary care and survivorship services (INSPiRE). Ms. Reed also co-mentors students and trainees on survivorship issues; her focus areas include mental health, primary care and cancer survivorship, and long-term cancer survivorship.
Prior to joining BBPSB, Ms. Reed worked as a health scientist administrator in the NCI OCS where she served as the operations lead. Additionally, she served as a health science and policy analyst in the Office of the Associate Director of DCCPS’ Healthcare Delivery Research Program. She has held several NIH contractor roles with NCI, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. She has over 20 years of experience managing numerous health-related contracts and several years of grants management experience.
