Alcohol and Cancer

In the United States, it has been estimated that 3.5% of all cancer deaths are attributable to drinking alcohol. Alcohol drinking is an established risk factor for several malignancies, and it is a potentially modifiable risk factor for cancer.

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) recently issued a statement about how alcohol use is linked to cancer risk, treatment, and other cancer-related outcomes, and about ASCO’s efforts to support effective public health strategies in that area. In this webinar, Dr. Noelle K. LoConte, lead author of the ASCO statement, provided an overview of the data and outlined areas where future research is needed.
